Between surfing, working, shooting, girlfriends, school, onshore wind and the flat spells of summer in Tofino, Michael Darling and I managed to film and throw together an edit for your viewing pleasure.
Kooks: A Love Story, the surf movie that was never meant to be. I broke my leg in the summer of 2012 and was looking for something to kill time during the 6 week recovery. I taught myself how to film/edit and I put together this weird video for my friends to watch. They convinced me to put it on YouTube and the rest is history.
People kept asking me when 'Kooks: A Love Story 2' was coming out, as a joke. In the winter of 2013, I decided to spend 6 months putting together a sequel. I decided at the start that if people liked this one, I would make a trilogy.
In 2013/2014, I spent the better part of an entire year creating Kooks 3. From a living room storyboard to the bedroom editing bay, I wanted to create something we could look back on in 20 years and still laugh.
During the filming of Kooks 3, I kept joking about a throw together film called "Kooks B' compiling all the footage that didn't make the movie. Just like the original film, one thing lead to another.
